Learning how to be safe
can be fun, as parents and children will discover at the free Family Safety
Day, Saturday August 26, from 10am – 5pm, at the Western Heritage Museum and
Lea County Cowboy Hall of Fame.
The museum has partnered
with several First Responders and local organizations to set up booths and
information, including law enforcement, firefighters and emergency services,
along with family service organizations. Kids can climb aboard a fire truck,
and sit in the cockpit of a medical airlift helicopter. Smokey Bear will be on
hand to talk about fire safety. Parents can get their children fingerprinted by
the Hobbs Police Department. Both Miss New Mexicos will talk about bullying,
and there is much more to do and see.
“We wanted to bring
together our First Responders in one location, to showcase what they do, and
how they can help families with safety,” says Dr. Darrell Beauchamp, Director
of the museum. “SWAT team will be here, along with the National Guard, and much
more, that is entertaining yet educational for families.”
My fami!y attended this and it was really impressive. I believe the Heritage Museum has our county's family's taken"Chill" in care of. The events they host are interactive, educational, and motivational for familys to grow closer. The staff are always courteous, helpful and just in general a joy to work with. Thank you Western Heritage for all the events and displays you have brought to our "Desert". Thank you for keeping us "educated" with all the fun, interactive family events. Our family adores you!
